Minutes with Mary

Looking Out, Looking Ahead

The house was quiet that afternoon
Mary sits quietly with her new puppy, looking out the window and wondering what lies ahead. A gentle reflection on change, growth, and the future.

Mary sat near the window, the small brown dog curled comfortably beside her.

Outside, the light stretched across the yard, and the narrow path beyond the fence wound gently out of sight.

She watched it for a long time.

Just a path… nothing more than a line through the grass. And yet, it seemed to lead somewhere—somewhere just beyond what she could see.

The dog shifted slightly, resting his head against

her arm. Mary smiled.

Not long ago, her days had been filled with simple routines—bottle caps, bicycle rides, small discoveries that stayed close to home. But now, something felt different.

Not in a way she could easily explain… just a quiet sense that things were beginning to open.

She reached down and gently stroked the dog’s fur.

He had found his way into her life without warning.

And somehow, it felt like the beginning of something.

Mary turned her gaze back to the path outside.

She didn’t know where it led.

But for the first time, she found herself wondering what might be waiting just beyond the bend.
