Minutes with Mary
The Quiet Table
A simple moment at the breakfast table leads Mary to wonder how something exciting—like a journey—can also feel so heavy when the people she loves are not yet ready to let her go.

“Sometimes the loudest moments are the ones where no one speaks.”
Mary kept her eyes on her breakfast. The spoon moved slowly. The room felt… different.
Her father read the newspaper.
Her mother sat quietly, thinking.
No one said much—but Mary could feel it.
The question from last night was still sitting at the table: Should she go?
Sometimes, growing up means wanting to explore the world……and knowing it might worry the people who love you most.
Mary wondered how something exciting could also feel so heavy.
She took another bite and stayed quiet.
For now.
